What is Marinestar?
Marinestarâ„¢ is a GNSS correction service built for Marine operations such as marine construction, dredging, hydrography, etc.
The service is provided by Fugro and the corrections are available via satellite link (L-Band) and internet (NTRIP).
Marinestar is ideal for applications where high accuracy of the positioning system is needed ; but a RTK base station cannot be deployed next to the area of operations, making it the perfect tool for large maritime survey or offshore operations.
Marinestar can act as backup to RTK whenever the RTK radio link is unavailable or the distance to the base station gets too large.
Most of SBG Systems INS are compatible with Marinestar.
Is my SBG Systems INS compatible with Marinestar?
The following devices are compatible with Marinestar:
- Ekinox-D v4

How to activate Marinestar?
SBG Systems INS are compatible with Marinestar, you need to acquire your Marinestar license directly from Fugro ; and to contact Fugro directly to activate Marinestar on your SBG INS.
To activate Marinestar, you need to send the following information to marinestar@fugro.com
- Requested date (Depending on your personal requirements)
- Requested service: G4+ is recommended (GPS, Galileo, Glonass, fixing ambiguities from Fugro) or as independent source XP2 (GPS, Glonass orbit and clock corrections from a third party)
- Requested activation method: L-Band beam (recommended) or NTRIP stream (if L-Band is not available)
- Marinestar ID: Details are below on how to recover it with your SBG Systems device
How to recover the Marinestar ID
For all SBG products which have a Marinestar compatible GNSS receiver the Marinestar ID can be found on the web interface of the unit section Information> firmware details> GNSS option > show details.
All our products which are Marinestar compatible feature an integrated L-Band modem, this is therefore the recommended solution as long as you use an L-Band compatible antenna.
If you bought your antenna from SBG Systems, the following antennas are L-Band compatible:
Verostar VSP6037L
Tallysman TW7972
Tallysman TW3972
In case you cannot use L-Band, the NTRIP solution works over internet connectivity.
These two approaches are detailed in the following links.
